japanese pastry





We were pleasantly surprised by the creative pastries to be found in the Japanese/French bakeries in Tokyo. There were challah-like rolls stuffed with sweetened green pea paste, fish-shaped bean-filled waffles called taiyaki, deep-fried bean doughnuts, chestnut-stuffed mochi balls, and an alarming array of curry-filled, egg-topped, and sausage-lanced pastry.
