garden state

There is some serious delicious happening in Portland, and while there are some great restaurants around town, the food carts are where it's at. We're lucky to live a few blocks from Garden State, home of the pretty spectacular chickpea sandwich. Ciabatta roll, crispy fried chickpea cake, lemon aioli, roasted butternut squash, carrots and lettuces; sounds pretty great, right? But it's even more than the sum of it's parts. I dream of this sandwich. Then there are the arancine (fried balls of saffron risotto, stuffed with mozz and seasonal veggies). If this isn't reason enough to visit Portland, I don't know what is.
