diy herbal heat wrap
This is a cozy, fragrant little heat pad that I've been using so often in these chilly, rainy days. All it takes is a quarter yard ("fat quarter") of your favorite cotton fabric, a needle and some thread, some dried lavender and brown rice and/or flax seeds at a 1:4 ratio (4 cups is pretty generous). Here's the step-by-step:
1. Cut an 18 x 12" piece of fabric, then fold over the edges half an inch all the way around and iron flat. Then fold the whole thing in half length-wise.
2. Sew the edges together about an eighth of an inch from the edge along the bottom and side, leaving enough thread to sew along the top, too.
3. Fill the bag with the brown rice and lavender until it feels nice wrapped around your shoulders. Then sew up the top.
Presto! You're done! I like to zap mine in the microwave for a minute or two until cozy warm and fragrant.
